STAGE ONE

  • The Original Building

Images of the old building prior to the demolition of the flat roof section. The original structure to the front of the building was retained and restored.

The building is situated in a wonderful part of Cobh, with easy access, on street parking and an adjacent green area. Just a five minute walk from St. Colman’s Cathedral and a twenty minute drive to Rocky Island Crematorium.

STAGE TWO

  • Under the Roof.

Have a look at how the building was before we began to clear the site. In this gallery you will see the many rooms, hallways and storage areas that were found in the existing structure.

We took great care to document the old building before the demolition began as we know many of the local community found employment there in past years.

STAGE THREE

  • Demolition

The demolition of the existing structure was a long process and great care was taken to document this stage of the project. Beneath that flat roof lay a warren of rooms, hallways and storage areas that had been left direlict for some time.

Browse through the gallery to see how the site looked after the existing structure was knocked.

STAGE FOUR

  • Building our Funeral Home

This was when we truly began to see our vision take shape. With each new wall that was erected, we could see the plans for the funeral home come together.

Over many months, the internal and external walls began to rise, beautiful cladding was added to the exterior, plumbing, heating and electrics were installed and the dream of providing our home town with a dedicated  Funeral Home was beginning to become a reality.

STAGE FIVE

  • The Nuts and Bolts

STAGE SIX

  • Finishing Touches

The team here at Cahill’s Funeral Home put great thought into the finishing touches of the building. We chose soft, welcoming colours, luxurious textiles and discreet lighting that focused on creating a calming atmosphere throughout the building.

Every detail from the wallpaper and carpeting to the door and bathroom fixtures was chosen with care and attention.

STAGE SEVEN

  • The Launch

On the 13th of December 2018, Cahill’s Funeral Home invited the community of Cobh and the surrounding areas to view the new building. Our official opening was attended by people of all ages and creeds and we were overwhelmed by the support we received. The tape was cut on the evening by Mrs Eily Collins who we affectionately call Nana. We would like to extend our thanks to everyone that attended on the night and to those who have come to view the Funeral Home since that date. Your well-wishes, support and friendship have helped us to deliver this much-needed Funeral Home to the community.
